AWA Alexander Watson Associates will host the 1st edition of the AWAVirtual PS Label & Liner Sustainability Seminar on April 26. The seminar will provide an industry-driven platform for business leaders and professionals to discuss sustainability drivers and innovations and get insights on recycling-related data across PS Label and Release Liner technologies.
The seminar will be available upon free registration on the AWAVirtual – AWA’s Virtual Events Platform launched in 2020.

The Pressure-sensitive label and the Release Liner Sector are increasingly developing more sustainable solutions. Green product, technology, and recycling developments are opening new opportunities to companies across the specialty paper, film, packaging, coating, and converting value chain that, over the last months, have faced supply shortages, bottlenecks in logistics, and raw materials price increases.

The Program
Corey Reardon, AWA’s President & CEO, will open the seminar with an overview of the Labeling and Product Decoration Market, followed by a Release Liner by-product and Matrix by-product overview.

Pablo Englebienne, regulatory affairs manager, FINAT, will cover developments and future directions in regulations at the EU level, such as the Circular Economy Action Plan and the Chemical Strategy for Sustainability, and will analyze some of the member-state measures impacting the packaging industry.

Jan ‘T Hart, senior consultant, and Gian Debelder, technical director, R&D & Packaging Sustainability at Procter & Gamble, will provide a presentation on the Digital Watermarks Initiative HolyGrail 2.0 – and will then provide a real-time Q&A.

The second part of the seminar, introduced by a presentation from CEPI’s Trade & Industrial Policy Director Bernard Lombard, will offer an update on the EU Green Deal and Directive on single-use plastics.

Following an update from CELAB Europe, Vincenzo Pierro, business solution director MEA, Mondi, will present about Sustainable Release Liner for Label Applications.
To conclude the seminar, Anum Javed Beg, manager of market research, AWA Alexander Watson Associates, will be joined by Marika Knorr, head of sustainability and communication, CCL Industries, Stefan Schönberger, Mondi’s head of product sustainability, Functional Paper & Films, and by Avery Dennison for a panel discussion around commercial aspects, challenges, and opportunities in sustainability and PS Label & Release Liner.
